Ornament swap

This is the best idea, it was organised by Sara and this is how it works... we got put into groups of 6 people, and you "swap" ornaments. You make 6 handmade ornaments, one for yourself, and one for each of the other members of your group. You end up with 6 beautiful handmade ornaments for your tree! These are what I made...

I am doing another swap with my coffee group, so five more hand made decorations, my tree will be full! Can't wait!

I love this cake!

I love baking and recently I have started to get more creative with icing. I made this for a friend for her baby shower a few months ago. It was a lemon yogurt cake (the recipe is on my blog),  I did a plain butter icing, a soft yellow on the sides and a light pink on the top. I was very happy with how it turned out. I am making and icing 150 cupcakes for a friends wedding in January so I better get practicing with my piping bag!

baby gift time

One of my best friends has just had her first baby, so exciting! This is a little gift box I'm getting ready to send off. I brought a plain white t from cotton on and used some material paint to write the baby's name and a draw a little owl, made the two shorts (new material) and the two bandanna bibs (vintage boat material and new toweling on the back) and brought the gorgeous teddy from a lovely baby gift shop.

"Storing"

I am "storing" this dresser in my dinning room for my mum. It is made of Rimu and is just gorgeous, it's just what I needed for some extra storage...

A sneak peek

A few of the dresses I have just finished for the up coming baby fair in December. All made from vintage material (apart from the second dress), and all have cute lace straps. The only thing is I can't decide how much to charge for them? Any suggestions?

Finds of the day!

As I walked into the Salvation Army shop today I was overwhelmed by Christmas goodies! I think we are well and truly set for Christmas now. We normally have a real tree but I couldn't help myself when I saw this tree from the 1970's, it just reminds me of Christmas at my Nana's! These are my favourites...

Snow globe $1, Santa slay & fairy 50 cents, box of wooden decorations $9, and the tree $2!

Simple sewing

This was a great (quick) little project, it's so satisfying to get instant results! Cover up the existing writing/pattern/logo with a cute piece of vintage material...

Stunning!

A beautiful vintage lace wedding dress I brought a few years ago. It is mostly hand made, the outer layer is lace, it has two layers of lining, boning through the bust and the purple ribbon has a dome and two clasps at the back. I regret to say I sold it a few months after buying it, I just came across the photo's and I miss it! The only good thing was I made a profit from it, I brought it for $18 and sold it for $220, but looking back was it really worth it? What do you think, would you have sold it??

So Do You Think You Can Sew?

I have entered 'So Do You Think You Can Sew?' competition on one of my favourite blogs mommy by day crafter by night. I know I don't have the best chance with such amazing competition but I'll give it a go! There are judges but I think you can vote as well.

This is the garment I have entered, so fingers crossed!

Vintage inspired bloomers

I came across some beautiful little 1940's bloomers yesterday, they were lovely but I couldn't afford them. I realised I had the same type of creep material at home, so I made some! I just traced around some little pajama bottoms to make the pattern, I spent at least an hour making them because I did all french seams, it takes longer but it's so worth the time, the look great and feel fantastic wear! I just need to find some lovely soft cotton lace to put at the bottom of the legs.
